About CustodyPlan
CustodyPlan exists because the two options available to a parent trying to sort out a custody schedule are both bad.
The first is a blank court form. It has the right boxes on it and tells you nothing about what to put in them. It cannot show you what a 2-2-5-5 schedule looks like across March, cannot count your overnights, and cannot tell you that the holiday rotation you just agreed quietly made your 50/50 plan into a 47/53 one.
The second is a subscription to a tool built for a long, contested case, when what you needed was one document, once.
So we built the thing in the middle: a visual schedule builder that does the arithmetic correctly, and an export you buy once.
Principles
How we decide what to build
The math has to be right
Overnight counts feed into custody determinations and child-support formulas. The schedule engine uses integer date arithmetic with no timezone handling anywhere in the calculation, because a single off-by-one would silently corrupt the number people rely on. It's covered by an automated test suite that runs on every change.
Show it before you charge for it
You can build the whole plan, set every holiday, see the overnight counts and preview the finished document without paying anything or creating an account. Nobody should have to buy a document they have not seen.
Price the document, not the parent
One price for the plan. Not one price per parent, not a subscription you have to remember to cancel, and no charge for extra children.
Say what we are not
We aren't a law firm and we don't give legal advice. We don't calculate child support, because doing it accurately requires state-specific rules and income details we don't handle. Pretending otherwise would be worse than useless to someone in the middle of this.
Stay out of the relationship
We deliberately don't build messaging, expense-splitting or anything that puts us between two parents. Other products do that well. We produce a document.
Collect as little as possible
The free tools store nothing on our servers. If you save a plan, we hold your email, the names you typed and your schedule settings. No addresses, no ID numbers, no tracking cookies.
